Enabling Haggerty AgRobotics with Data

Driven Insights for Growers & Robotics

Project Description

This project’s goal was to help Haggerty AgRobotics establish a regional weather station network throughout desired areas in Ontario to provide local weather, crop staging and disease modelling insights to its grower network. The initiative was intended to support proactive decision-making by integrating real-time localized data into farm management practices.

Technology Description

Ukko Agro is a Canadian agricultural technology company that specializes in predictive analytics through their online platform called ForeSite. Ukko’s platform utilizes weather, soil and crop data to assist farmers in making informed decisions regarding crop managment, including irrigation, disease risk and nutrient deficiency

5 Ukko weather stations tracked the following weather variables:

  • Max/average/min temperature

  • Cloud/Sky conditions

  • Max/average/min relative humidity

  • Max/average/min wind speed & direction

  • Precipitation sums

  • Delta T

Deployment Information

  • Consistent weather trends observed across sites (temperature, relative humidity, wind).

  • Noticeable variation in precipitation and wind by location.

  • Reliable, real-time data captured throughout the season, utilized for robot deployment schedules.

Project Findings

  • Easy to Use: Quick setup with intuitive ForeSite platform.

  • Real-Time Insights: Supports in-season field planning and decision-making.

  • Operational Efficiency: Reduces unnecessary travel and downtime.

  • Site Comparison: Enables multi-location weather tracking.

  • Agronomic Value: Improves monitoring of crop stress and disease risk.

  • Research Insights: Supports post-season analysis and trial evaluation
